Canticle No.3 “Still Falls the Rain”
Auf dem Strom
Horn Trio in E flat Op.40
Richard Rowe has been following a demanding schedule for the last five years, appearing in both operas and on concert platforms. He has sung roles including Tamino in Magic Flute; Ferrando in Cosi Fan Tutte; the title role in Albert Herring; Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni and Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus.
Recently, he was specially chosen to sing the Britten 3rd Canticle at this year's Denis Brain memorial concert in October – it is 50 years since his tragic death. He has also been asked to sing the Britten Serenade for the memorial concert for Aubrey Brain.
Martin Owen, Principal Horn of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, is widely regarded as one of the country's leading players, appearing as both Guest Principal Horn with the major London orchestras, and some further afield, including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra of Europe. He is in great demand and just one of the best horn players in the world. We are so lucky to have him.
It is also a joy that two such wonderful musicians as Thomas Gould and John Reid have formed their duo. They are both in great demand and last season's recital for KCMS demonstrated why. A chance to hear such musicians in this rare Brahms trio is not to be missed.
