British flautist Adam Walker, described by Classic FM Magazine as one of the top five international flautists. In March we are treated to another fine international collaboration, with Meng Yang Pan from China joining Austrian Thomas Neubauer to perform piano duets including Mozart, Chopin, Schubert and Brahms. The final concert features the Williamson Clarinet Trio playing pieces for clarinet, cello and piano.
KCMS continues to grow in reputation and popularity. Our 50th season was a resounding success. Philip Doghan, with whom I have shared the chairmanship over several years, has retired. I must pay a sincere tribute to Philip’s enthusiasm, musical wisdom and knowledge, which have been major assets to us. We were also saddened to learn of the death of the Society’s President, the Earl of Harewood. We are currently identifying a worthy successor to support us as we continue to aspire to new heights.
I look forward to seeing many old friends and some new faces during the season, hoping that many will take advantage of the KCMS season ticket, which is remarkable value. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased in advance online – perhaps a wise move given the consistently
high turnout last season.
